Friday 3rd

Dear Kite Class

Here are some suggested ideas for your home learning, today the last day of this week.

9 o’clock - maths - See the star page for the maths websites for Year 1 and then Year 2 Bitesize video clips. How are you getting on using the red button on the television? If you need more work to do you can always try IXL games (I see some of you have earned some certificates - WELL DONE!) or Timestable Rockstars as per our class letter where you will find patterns counting in 2, 5 and 10.  Don’t forget to use the maths table I gave out at parents evening. This should give you even more confidence. Write your work in your maths home-learning book.

10 o’clock - have a break. Make sure you wash your hands and eat a piece of fruit.

10:30 - English -  Year 2, IT’S BIG WRITE DAY! Mrs Earley would like to finish the Big Write with her group at school, next week.  So Mrs Earley’s group and Mrs Greene’s group, I would like you to Complete the BBC Bitesize English activity for Year 1.  The website is on our class page under the stars.

Year 2, as explained yesterday you are going to write a description of your friend.  What makes that person so amazing? Use your story map from yesterday to write a paragraph for each picture you drew.  Try to use as many red and green words as you can. Look carefully through the book to give you lots of ideas. Your story map should help guide your story and to sound out any tricky words. Read your work through at the end, can you edit or up level any of the words you have used. If you can fill two pages in your red spelling book, you can write 1HP on your work!  Make sure you write the long date and LO: Big Write, at the start of your work. If any of you need more work, remember to read a book from your folder, our new virtual reading corner or one of those books you have been itching to read from your own book shelf and ask your grown up to record this in your reading record. Don't forget to practise your spellings too, maybe do the sentences for the first half of your spelling words for this week.  Please also practise your speed sounds using the videos right at the bottom of this page.

12 o’clock - wash your hands and enjoy your lunch hour.

1 o’clock - Art - nature art - See learning grid for this week. This week’s project is big art, so your finished art needs to be bigger than you are!  Because of this and because it may take a while to create, feel free to roll your art into the second hour of the afternoon.

2 o’clock - Role play - play and enjoy your art installation above. It would be great if you could email me some photos, then I could put them into our whole school exhibition.

3 o’clock - golden mile - how many times can you run around the garden in ten minutes?

WELL DONE HOMELEARNERS AND HOMETEACHERS you have worked really hard this week. Year 2, your weekend homelearning challenge is to find three liquids in your fridge that you can measure with a jug; record the object and write how many millilitres (ml) using a jug to measure.  Year 1, I would like you to find seven coins, divide them into two piles, then add up how much in each pile.  Write the two amounts in your book, then use the crocodile mouth more than / less than symbol in-between the two numbers.  Repeat at least three times. Record in your Maths homelearning book.  If you have any questions, ask your grown up to email me on the office email address found on the school website. Keep safe, keep smiling and keep washing your hands.
