Special Educational Needs and Disabilities

Our SEN Vision and Values

At Butleigh C of E Primary School we value all our children and work together to instill our six Christian values which we believe develop our character- honesty, forgiveness, courage, cooperation, respect and kindness to ensure that we aspire to be our best self by living, learning and growing together in God’s love.

We build the foundations of lifelong learners by developing children’s curiosity, creativity and strive for them to be active participants in their learning.

Our aims:

  • To provide an inclusive learning environment
  • To support the development of children’s social skills and well being
  • To enable all children to become independent learners
  • To work in partnership with parents by listening and valuing their views to support their child’s learning.
  • To provide high quality teaching to enable all children to make progress.
  • To use technologies confidently and purposefully to enable all children to access the curriculum.
  • To celebrate the progress and achievements of all children so everyone is proud of their learning.

We want to use our extensive site to develop effective learning environments which support all children to grow and flourish and embed our personalised whole school curriculum to develop children’s knowledge and skills.

Who to contact

Our Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) is Mrs Sophie Shields. Mrs Shields will usually be available on a Tuesday as the SENCo. If you have any concerns or would like to speak Mrs Shields, she can be contacted via the school office or using senco@butleighprimary.co.uk. We would advise you to speak to your child's class teacher about any concerns first.
