WEDNESDAY 8th July 2020

Dear Kite class, here are some suggestions for your homelearning today.  I am really missing not seeing you. Remember learning must be fun as you challenge yourself today and every day.

9 o’clock - Maths - please see video clips and activity sheets for Year 1 and then Year 2 on the BBC Bitesize and White Rose websites on the page with the stars for this week or you can access the same maths through BBC Bitesize by pressing the red button on your TV. If you need more to do you can always go to your new Timestable Rockstars and use the maths table I gave out at parents evening. This should help you out. Write your work in your maths home-learning book.  If you would like to to try some different maths games you could try the IXL website, the link is on the star page.  You can earn certificates from this website, just like our reading certificates.

10 o’clock - have a break. Make sure you wash your hands and eat a piece of fruit.

10:30 - English - Mrs Earley’s group to read the book Grow your own radishes, we will do the two ‘hold a sentences’ at school. Year 2 to read Wailing Winny’s car boot sale again - the books are above.  Then correct the errors below.  If any of you need more work try the English challenge on the BBC Bitesize website above and remember to read a book from your folder, our virtual reading corner or choose one from your book shelf and ask your grown up to record this in your reading record.

12 o’clock - wash your hands and enjoy your lunch hour

1 o’clock - Science - Look at the learning grid. Year 1 match the mini beast to it’s home and then use the sheet on the learning grid as a bug hunt.  Year 2 Put a pinch of glitter, sand or dry soil on your hands, these are your pretend germs.  Then read a book. After your music lesson below, take note of all the places where your germs are. They may be on light switches, on the bannister,  on door handles and on every single page of your book!  This is why hygiene is so important. Hygiene means washing to keep clean. Wash your hands hands with soap and notice how long it takes for all your pretend germs to disappear?  This is why careful hand washing is so important.

2 o’clock - Music - this term’s focus is practising songs.  The song words, music and a guiding video website are on the learning grid.  This week I would like you to look at the song about raising your voice - see the learning grid for the guiding video website.

3 o’clock - golden mile - how many times can you run around the garden in ten minutes? Mrs Bennett has completed her half marathon training and is now using the Nike running club app to run even further!  You can stick with the golden mile for now. They also have other activities on The Golden Mile website.

I hope you had as much fun doing your home-learning as I had in planning it? If you have any questions, ask your grown up to email me on the office email address found on the school website. Keep sending your emails and photos.  Keep smiling and stay safe.

Mark your spellings and if you need to correct any words, write them down in your bright colour. How did you get on?

9:30 - PE - Do the Art Appreciation PE activity on the learning grid for Tuesday.

10:30 - have a break. Make sure you wash your hands and eat a piece of fruit.

12 o’clock - wash your hands and enjoy your lunch hour.

1 o’clock- Maths - please find BBC Bitesize video clip work attached for work re Year 1 and then Year 2 or use the red button on your TV. White Rose videos are back, too! IXL games or Timestable Rockstars are also available, where you will find patterns counting in 2, 5 and 10 and use the maths table I gave out at parents evening. This should help you out. Write your work in your maths home-learning book.

2 o’clock - ICT - visit the website on the learning grid.  Predict the counters in the pot then create a chart showing how you can handle the data, then answer the questions about weather and time - see grid for hyperlinks.

3 o’clock - golden mile - how many times can you run around the garden in ten minutes?

I hope you had as much fun doing your home-learning as I had in planning it? If you have any questions, ask your grown up to email me on the office email address found on the school website. Keep smiling and stay safe.
